TopStory - Trump slams Sessions over Republican lawmakers' indictment

Within a week after the midterm elections President Trump will likely fire Jeff Sessions

President Trump has attacked Attorney General Jeff Sessions, after the Justice Department filed charges against Republican Congressmember Christopher Collins of NY and Republican Congressmember Duncan Hunter of California.

When asked in the Bloomberg News interview whether he would comply if Mr Mueller issued a subpoena for him to appear for questioning, Mr Trump said: "I'll see what happens".

The first two Republicans to endorse Mr Trump in the Republican presidential primaries were indicted on separate charges last month, Duncan Hunter, of California, on charges that included spending campaign funds for personal expenses, and Chris Collins, of NY, on insider trading. "He won't. He might get fired, but I don't think he'll quit". "Clearly, Attorney General Sessions doesn't have the confidence of the president".

And last week Trump said Sessions "never took control of the Justice Department", which Sessions quickly rebuffed.

"What's happening is a disgrace, and at some point ... if it doesn't straighten out properly ..."

Trump Wants To Fire Sessions Because He 'Talks Like He Has Marbles In His Mouth': Report

It said the President declined to comment when asked whether he would keep Mr Sessions in office beyond November.

Trump mentioned the prospect of firing Sessions during a phone call with Graham last week.

Sessions' original sin in Trump's eyes is that he recused himself from matters connected to the presidential campaign, in which he was a conspicuous cheerleader for Trump - a decision that paved the way for the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller and the investigation Trump incessantly attacks as a "witch hunt".

Wallace said, "Remember though, that the recusal of Sessions did not lead to the special counsel". He charged that Mueller's probe was "highly conflicted" and that "real corruption goes untouched". It quoted one Republican Senate aide as saying Trump is venting his dissatisfaction with Sessions to "any senator who will listen".
