Olivia Newton-John Reveals She's Battling Cancer for a Third Time

Newton-John shot to fame alongside John Travolta in the iconic 1978 musical

Olivia Newton-John has revealed she is battling cancer for the third time - after keeping her second fight with the disease a secret.

The Grease star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, and in 2013, while being treated following a minor vehicle accident, was found to have cancer in her shoulder.

In 2013, she was diagnosed with breast cancer again, this time it had spread to her shoulder.

Newton-John released her memoir "Don't Stop Believin'" this week.

"I'm very lucky I live in a state where [cannabis] is legal. My dream is that in Australia soon it will be available to all the cancer patients and people going through cancer or any kind of disease that causes pain." she said.

"I've been great", she said at the time. So if I allow myself to do that.

She says she has already undergone radiation therapy, and is also looking into natural remedies, such as medical marijuana that her husband, John Easterling, grows on their ranch in Santa Barbara.

Newton-John said she learned of her diagnosis in 2017.

Last year, she was forced to cancel her tour after learning she had "breast cancer that [had] metastasised to the sacrum".

Newton-John said she made a decision to keep her second bout of cancer to herself.

Newton-John first announced her diagnosis past year after she was forced to cancel a summer tour in order to undergo treatment. "I see it as part of my mission maybe".

"I'm one of millions in this fight".

She told CNN: "I love to sing, it's all I know how to do".

She has cut sugar completely from her diet, and has turned to marijuana to help ease her physical pain. "They help with pain, they help with sleep".

"I feel so fortunate to have had the success I've had, and to do the wonderful things I do", she continued.

"The first time I talked about it, and the second time I thought I didn't really need to share this, it's not something I need to share with people", she said.
